Teens Looking Forward

Feb
12

Happy Sunday Everyone,
Thanks to everyone for attending last Friday’s Pro-Life Rosary Party. We had a good turn out and a successful night. Thanks to Danielle for bringing the October Baby preview for us (and for the cookies, my favorite kind too). What a great Pro-Life movie! We are looking into going as a group to see it sometime near its premier on March 23, but those details are still pending.

Our next event is coming up soon though. This Saturday, February 18th, Aaron Chatraw will be leading us in a Pro-Life Apologetics workshop. This is going to be a great experience for both our most experienced and our newest members, because we all know how hard it can be, especially as teens, to answer those hard questions we’re all faced with as Pro-lifers.

For details and directions, please contact me (Click here for email). We are hosting this event at the Langevins’ house which is out near the fairgrounds. So if you need a ride please let me know as well and we’ll try our best to get you there. Thanks to everyone.

God bless and thanks again,
Hunter

February’s Pro-Life Rosary

Jan
25

Dear Teens for Life,

Spring is just around the corner and with the spring comes new life. Always. Birds’ eggs hatch, flowers blossom, babies are born, and Florida Teens for Life is preparing for just as prosperous a spring as well.
Our next event is going to be February’s Pro-Life Rosary. It will be hosted Feb. 3, 2012 at 6:00pm by, me, Hunter, in absence of Bernadette, our director, as she prepares for the birth of her new son. We will be meeting to pray the Rosary for an end to abortion and we will watch a pro-life movie following the Rosary. I hope everyone can come and be with us. There will be food by the way, so expect some snacks and drinks to fill your hungry bellies. If you would like more information please contact me for my address, directions, and if you would like to bring a dish or desert to share with the group. (Click here for email) God bless you all and I look forward to seeing each of you.

Thanks,
Hunter

Last events of 2011

Hello Everyone!

If you have been busy all fall and would like to fit in a Teens for Life activity before the year is out, now is the time!  This week we will have Teens for Life’s last events for 2011.

Thursday Night Meeting:  The Pro-life response to the Sexual Revolution.

Many things came out of the sexual revolution, including abortion.  You most likely won’t hear about that in your average history class, but it’s true.  The ideology of the sexual revolution is that sex is no longer “bound” to marriage – but is now “free” to be expressed whenever and with whomever and without consequences.  As you can imagine, this philosophy can create a lot of havoc.  It created a lot of unplanned STDs that have become a major epidemic in our world today.  It caused men and women to lose respect for one another, to use and abuse each other.  It led to the devaluing of human life which naturally flows from intercourse.  In totality, the sexual revolution has been no revolution at all.  Rather it is a devolution of the understanding of human sexuality, a warped view of what it means to be human.  This ideology teaches that human beings are no longer worthy of respect, but objects for use and abuse.  Children are no longer valued.  Parents no longer stay together.  As you can see today, we are living in a world of heartache and despair.  The sexual revolution promised peace and happiness via “freedom from sexual morality.”  In reality, true freedom comes from self-mastery and the virtue of humility which enables us to love ourselves and others for who we truly are.

*Come to our Thursday night meeting at 5PM to learn about being pro-life in our own life, so we avoid giving in to the sexual revolution culture which is the seed that gave fruit to our society’s acceptance and legalization of abortion.  What is chastity and why is it essential to being pro-life?  As usual, the meeting will be at my house, so if you need directions shoot me an email.

Saturday morning Christmas Party/Alpha Center Service Day:

From 10AM to 2PM at the Alpha Center (6004 Pernella Rd, Pensacola), you can be a Teens for Life Christmas elf!  Families helped by the Alpha Center often cannot celebrate Christmas with presents and holiday food like we do.  Make a difference in the lives of these children and parents by wrapping up Christmas presents for them!  We will be helping out the Alpha Center as well as having some early Christmas fun!  Everyone should bring their favorite Christmas dessert and CD.  If you want to wear a Christmas outfit- be my guest!  Put on an elf hat or reindeer antlers – whatever gets you in the mood for the party!  This will be our end of the year party – so I hope everyone can come.

Blessings!

Bernadette

November is Adoption Awareness Month!

Nov
9

Adoption is a very beautiful option for mothers in crisis pregnancies.  Some families who have children choose to adopt because they love and are grateful to God for adopting them.  Other families adopt because they cannot have a child biologically.  Many families adopt for different reasons.   Adoption is beautiful because it is a true act of love on the part of the birth parents as well as the adoptive parents.  It shows how God can turn a difficult situation into a miracle for a couple that yearns for children and a mother who is unable to give her child the support he or she needs.  Let’s spread awareness about the truth of the beauty of adoption as a pro-life option to everyone around us.  Here is one way to start:

Pensacola will be having an Adoption Awareness event November 12th from 10AM – 2PM.

“Footprints to a Forever Family Fun walk”

Details: The walk begins at 10AM and there will be family centered activities to follow.  The event raises money for local adoption agencies.  To be a part of the walk, registration costs $10 and comes with a t-shirt as well.  The walk begins at the Gulf Coast Kids House and ends at Bayview Park.  There will be shuttles provided between 8:30 – 9:45AM before the walk at 10AM.  Come and wear your Teens for Life t-shirts and show your support for adoption!

40 Days for Life really works!

Nov

Yesterday, a vigil participant, was approached by a woman.  This woman parked
her car and proceeded to speak with those praying in front of the 9th Avenue
abortion facility.  The woman told everyone, “Keep it up.  Keep praying in front
of this place.  Your prayers have made the difference in my daughters life.  She
was inside this very abortion facility two weeks ago.  She distinctly recalls
the people praying in front of the clinic.  It was the presence of those in
prayer that convinced her to keep her baby.  Thank you for helping to save my
granddaughters life.”

What an amazing story!  Thank you, Jesus!  More lives saved!  Thank you to all
those that have prayed in front of the 9th Avenue abortion facility.  Your
prayer have made a tremendous difference!  God Bless you all!

-40 Days for Life Pensacola email from November 1st 2011

In these last days of 40 Days for Life, invite your parents and friends to pray in front of the abortion clinic.  Your loving presence, especially as a family is a powerful witness to hope and to God’s love for every human child and every mother and father.  Thank you all for your participation in 40 Days for Life, hope to see you at the victory rally this Sunday.  We will be releasing balloons in front of the 9th Avenue abortion clinic at 4PM and then having the victory rally at 6:30PM at the St. Anne’s Belleview parish hall.  Come celebrate with us!

Saturday event cancelled:

Teens for Life will NOT be handing out water bottles and pamphlets at the Mall-to-Mall walk this Saturday.

Unfortunately, I have recently begun having a great deal of pain standing and walking at this point in my pregnancy and will be needing to take it easy on the physical strain now.  This event would just be too hard on me at this point and now having car problems has only further complicated the event plans.  We will plan to do this event next year as it is a great opportunity to spread vital information about breast cancer risk prevention.

This Thursday night’s meeting is still on, so please plan to be at my house at 6PM for a highly educational presentation.  We will learn about abortion’s affect on women’s health, the psychological mindset that leads to acceptance of abortion, and how the Planned Parenthood model of family planning is killing and wounding women.  Don’t miss this meeting – you will very likely meet people who will challenge you on your pro-life beliefs on how to “prevent the need for abortion” and accuse you of being “anti-woman” and only “pro-baby” as a pro-lifer.  As always, invite your teenage friends to this meeting – and don’t forget to eat dinner before the meeting, we will provide dessert and drinks.

God bless!

Bernadette

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

Oct
18
Next week we will be meeting at my house for a breast cancer/women’s health themed presentation.  You may be wondering how this relates to Teens for Life pro-life group?  The reason for this is that the topic of women’s health is often cited as a reason for supporting abortion rights.  On the contrary, abortion does anything but preserve a woman’s health – it destroys it.  Teens for Life members need to learn about this so that they can refute one of the many abortion propaganda lies designed to keep abortion rights protected and advancing.
Below you can read an article that previews the topic of the abortion-breast cancer connection.  While breast cancer is caused by many different unpreventable risk factors, there remains a large number of women exposed to the abortion risk factor who are not being warned and who are at risk for premenopausal breast cancer.  That means 1 out of 3 American women (how many women have abortion in the U.S.) are putting their long-term health at risk and are not in the least bit informed.  Read the article below to get a brief preview to next Thursday evening’s presentation.
Upcoming events in October:
  1. Breast Cancer-Abortion-Hormonal Contraception Connection- Thursday Oct 27th 6PM-9PM at my house (Please be sure to eat dinner before coming, dessert will be provided)
  2. Breast Cancer Walk-Water Bottle/Pamphlet hand out- Saturday Oct 29th 8AM-11AM in front of Cordova Mall (Email me for exact location)

National Cancer Institute Must Tell Women Abortion, Breast Cancer Linked

November 5, 2010 by Gerard M. Nadal

My article this week in Life News

As October has closed, so does another Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a noble and worthy endeavor to raise awareness of this dread disease and how it affects the women we love and their families.

We have indeed made great strides against this disease in all areas: etiology, early detection, and treatment.

However, the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) pro-abortion political correcting of honestly assessing all areas of causality undercuts the effectiveness of this month’s activities, and leaves millions of women at needless increased risk. Specifically, we need to consider the risks associated with oral contraceptive (OC) use and abortion.

At my blog, I have been analyzing the peer reviewed scientific and medical literature showing the association between OC use, abortion and breast cancer. For a half-century now, well over a hundred studies have indicated a link between abortion and breast cancer, with increased risks being upward of 50% for abortions before a first full-term pregnancy, with many showing increased risks above 100%.

The biological explanation for this link is very simple and has been demonstrated repeatedly in animal studies. Prior to a first full term pregnancy a woman’s breasts are not fully developed, with her lobules made up of immature and cancer-prone Type 1 and Type 2 cells. When she conceives a child, estrogen levels rise dramatically, along with the pregnancy hormone HCG, which stimulate the lobules to undergo massive cell proliferation, roughly doubling in number. These first trimester events leave the woman with twice as many cells where cancer can start.

At the end of the second trimester, the baby begins to protect the mother by secreting the hormone human placental lactogen. This hormone matures the lobule cells into cancer-resistant Type 4 cells, which will produce milk. By the end of the pregnancy 85% of the lobule cells will have undergone this differentiation. The remaining 15% will undergo differentiation to Type 4 Cells during breastfeeding and subsequent pregnancies.

As animal studies bear out, if pregnancy is ended by abortion the woman is left with twice as many immature, cancer-prone cells where cancer can start, but she does not derive the protective effect of the third trimester. OC’s work by the same mechanism of stimulating cell proliferation, without the protective effect of a full term pregnancy. It is simple, elegant, and devastating.

Women who miscarry have abnormally low hormonal levels, and in all studies are shown to be at no increased risk of developing breast cancer.

So where does this political correcting at NCI come from?

Pro-abortion feminist researchers in and associated with the National Cancer Institute convened a panel in 2003 to craft a denial of their own research showing the abortion/breast cancer (ABC) link. Their dismissal of the data was founded on the absurd notion that women with breast cancer are more apt to recall and truthfully report their prior abortions during detailed health histories in research studies than healthy women in the control groups of these studies. This phenomenon is alternately dubbed “recall bias” and “reporting bias”.

Such preposterous thinking is in contravention to the denial that accompanies such devastating disease. If anything, the reverse would be true. However, these researchers suggested that the only valid studies would be those that start in the present and move forward over time. These are known as prospective studies, and are thought to be advantageous over their retrospective counterparts.

But as my ongoing analysis of these studies indicates, these prospective studies are often conducted and funded by the same pro-abortion folks who denied the validity of their own published retrospective studies. These prospective studies, which have purportedly shown no recall bias, are so methodologically flawed, deliberately so, as to literally violate the scientific process.

In the biggest prospective study to allegedly show no ABC link, the Melbye study, the authors began counting breast cancer cases in 1967, but didn’t start a consideration of abortions before 1973. This puts the cases of disease six years before the suspected exposure to the potential cancer-producing cause. I would fail an undergraduate biology student on a research project for making such an obvious blunder. But this is the best study to which the pro-aborts point. But even Melbye’s studies indicate a 3% rise in risk of breast cancer for every week a woman waits to have an abortion, until at 18 weeks gestation her risk rises to 89%.

Further, when Melbye studied premature births, it was found that breast cancer risks are elevated in women who deliver before 32 weeks at the same levels that the retrospective studies establish for women who have induced abortions. Melbye notes the loss of protective effect in these cases of premature delivery. What Melbye refuses to admit is that the sudden end of pregnancy, through either induced abortion or premature birth, are equivalent biological events where the risk of breast cancer is concerned.

So we have progressed through another Breast Cancer Awareness Month where the pro-abortion gang at NCI has conspired to keep the whole truth about risk factors from women, including their chief epidemiologist’s (Dr. Louise Brinton) own paper last year which indicates that women who begin OC use before age 18 are at 540% increased risk of developing the most aggressive and deadly form of breast cancer, triple negative breast cancer.

One wonders why there is not near hysteria in the media over such a catastrophic correlation, especially when Planned Parenthood dispenses OC’s to teens as though they were M&M’s.

It remains for us, the pro-life community, to patiently bring these scientific truths forward. The only force more ruthless and uncaring than the pro-abortion crew at NCI is nature. The laws of physiology and disease are coldly unforgiving of ignorance, political correctness, and willful disobedience. Dr. Louise Brinton and her handpicked coterie of abortion enthusiasts have betrayed women, betrayed scientific integrity, and betrayed their duty to the truth by politically driven machination. Having dug in their heels, we must simply maneuver around them and take the lead.

Super Hero Friday!

Come join Teens for Life as we pray in front of the abortion clinic while abortions are taking place.

Why be there?  Because we are our brother’s keeper.  That babies in the womb are our brothers and sisters and they need us to be the voice on their behalf.  That means praying for them in front of the place where they will be killed.  That means praying for their moms to choose life and find hope in Christ.  That means standing in front of the abortion clinic peacefully and lovingly, being a physical witness to hope.

You, as young people, also have an added edge: you don’t look old!  You may see a friend going in there who may decide to talk to you rather than someone they don’t know.  Your young presence may give them the courage they need to say no to abortion even when a parent may be pressuring them to have the abortion.  Let’s face it, your presence is powerful!

What will happen?  Teens will meet at the 9th Avenue abortion clinic at 6AM for one hour of prayer and peaceful vigil.  Since I will be out of town, Briana Goley, UWF Student and past Teens for Life member, will lead this event.  If teens have any questions or need any guidance, she will be the expert in knowing what to do and how to handle any situation.  Remember, the most powerful thing you can do is to love and pray for the people involved in the abortion clinic.  If someone does confront you, let Briana handle it.  If a mother chooses life and asks for help, Briana can give instruction on the nearest help and resources.

Come out and be a witness for life!

Fall events for Teens for Life

Sep
27

Hello everyone!

I just want to let you all know that I sent out this year’s fall schedule of upcoming events in the mail today.  Since two of the events take place this week, here are the details so you can have the best chance of being able to come out and participate:

Thursday September 29th:  Prayer Vigil-Movie Night

Details: Prayer Vigil 4PM-5PM in front of 9th Avenue abortion clinic.  Movie Night 5:30-8PM at Bernadette’s house.

(Email me if you do not know the address.  It will also be listed in the envelope I sent everyone today.)

*Everyone should bring a soda or dessert and $20 dollars for ordering t-shirts.

Sunday October 2nd (Respect Life Sunday) 4-5:30PM: “Teens for Life Respect Life Sunday prayer vigil”

Details: Each teen is asked to make an announcement at their church inviting their parish to join them in Teens for Life in praying for the end to abortion in front of the 9th Avenue Abortion Clinic and that they can get more information after mass.  The teens are encouraged to have a table outside of their church to answer questions about coming out to pray with Teens for Life, information on 40 Days for Life, and information on Teens for Life.  Father Paul Lambert from St. Anne’s Gulf Breeze will lead us in prayer at the prayer vigil at the 9th Avenue abortion clinic.

*Make sure to call your church in advance to see if you pastor could allow you to make the announcement about Teens for Life having a prayer vigil for life.  Make sure to include details such as time (4-5PM) location (9th Avenue abortion clinic in Pensacola, FL) and that Fr. Paul Lambert will lead Teens for Life and everyone else in our pro-life prayer.  It would be also awesome if you could wear your Teens for Life t-shirt so people could more easily spot you to ask you questions after church.

Hope to see you all this week!  God bless!
